The descent to Ponte Campo follows the tractor trail which coasts the impressive gully of the Cairasca Torrent. From Ponte Campo we could take the track which coasts the torrent on its right but we do not recommend this due to the possibility of falling rocks such as those that took place in these last few years. We therefore suggest going back up Saint Domenico along the carriageable road. From Saint Domenico in front of the Cuccini Hotel a mule track starts (track cod F36) which cuts through hairpin bends up to Gebbo, where, following the road signs, we take the unpaved road which goes down and crosses the Cairasca Torrent and goes back up to where the mule track towards Trasquera, known as the “old road” (“strada vecchia”) can be taken. Once upon a time such road used to go up to Ponte Campo but has now been destroyed by rockslides. We thus leave the road and take the large nice mule track which leads through the woods towards Trasquera, almost all of which is flat, and we follow it for about 4 kilometers surpassing first the fork in the road towards Cioina and then the one towards Fraccia. We keep on going straight towards Trasquera by taking a particularly stimulating tract which goes around a steep rocky crag with a nice view on the Varzo valley; in the end the mule tract comes to the intersection with a road which starts off unpaved and then becomes paved and in a brief amount of time takes us to the municipal square of Trasquera. We go down to the Trasquera Church and by going along the Veia di Bröcc road which we have already followed on the first day of this itinerary we get back to Varzo.
