From the city centre in the bottom part of Riale we take the Gries Way (Via del Gries) towards the Toce Waterfall (Cascata del Toce). We reach the homes of Upper Frua where the path turns into a mule track running between two stone walls until we get to a fork in the road and take the path towards the Ghighel Alp. We take a left and along a steep path through a thick alder wood we go up to the Alp. Once the wood’s boundary has been passed we take the path towards the Lago Nero (Lake Black) at first via a long tract along the mountainside and then via a steep final tract that takes us to the Lago Nero. We coast along the lake following the numerous varnished trail marks and then start going up among rocks and steep rocky ways up to reaching a carving in the mountain’s crest at an altitude of 2,797 meters. From here we go down along a very steep tract (be careful in case of snow) paying attention to the danger of falling rocks. Having arrived at the bottom of the small valley we go back up another small mouth at an altitude of 2,737 meters from which we can finally see the Tamia Mountain Pass. By continuing along the mountainside on rather disconnected rock-paved paths one last sudden steep tract takes us up to the Mountain Pass. From here onwards the way down towards the mountain hut takes place on bumpy rock-paved roads (pay attention to the road signs), after which we coast a lake and come face to face with the valley where we can see the mountain hut at the bottom. We go down via a very steep tract and then via a long diagonal path we go down to the bottom of the valley reaching the Di Crest Plain (Pian di Crest) Mountain Hut.
