From the bus stop in Antrona, follow the signs for the “Strada Antronesca” (trail C00) to ascend to Cimallegra. From there, enter the area where the 1642 landslide took place and, at Acqua Bona, turn right to climb to the departure point for Forcola. Next to the trail information panel, there is a trail that rises decidedly towards the Forcola Pass, cutting through highland meadows and old mountain pastures. From the pass, it’s possible to climb up a crown to take in the great view. Drop down into the large valley of Alpe Curtvello, continue to Alpe Fraccia and then to the town of Cheggio. Hike down to Alpi di Campo below by taking the mule track (trail C27), then return to Antronapiana.
Notes: This loop excursion connects Lake Antrona with Lake Cheggio. The route climbs up a small valley to the side of the Troncone Valley, which then opens onto the Forcola Pass, a spectacular panoramic viewpoint over the valley below. The way back to Antronapiana to Cheggio is on a comfortable, easy trail.
