From Premia we follow the main road for 150 meters downhill (watch out for traffic) and near a chapel (Cappella dal Self) we take a steep mule track which descends until it crosses the River Toce and then climbs even steeper to the village of Cagiogno. This stretch is not very good for cycling. Alternatively, from Cappella dal Self it is possible to continue on the main road until Piedilago and  then to take the paved road to Cagiogno to avoid carrying the bike on your shoulder. We follow the asphalted road from Cagiogno until before the bridge over the Toce river, then we turn right following the arrows with G00 signpost, we take a track that continues along the artificial lake of Piedilago. From the end of the lake, we return to the paved road which continues passing downstream the village of Cristo along the river. Further the track runs beautifully through well-kept meadows until reaching a bridge in front of the Terme di Premia. We follow the signs for Via del Gries without crossing the bridge and we continue along the meadows along the Toce for a long flat stretch, until you get to Case Cini. After crossing the village, we continue on the track that runs alongside the river; we cross the Toce river at the ford (in case of water use the bridge at Case Cini) until we reach the main road along which we continue paying attention to traffic, especially in summer. We pass the villages of Chioso and Foppiano and  we continue along the main road until we reach the entrance to the long road tunnel which climbs to Formazza. We do not enter in the tunnel but we continue straight along the old road that climbs with numerous hairpin bends, which are no longer traveled by cars, until you reach Fondovalle. Here we cross the bridge over the Toce and we take the farm road, a long flat road that goes through the valley on the left bank up to Valdo. We cross again the river Toce and we go in the direction of the chairlift departure, but immediately before arriving, we continue straight on until we reach a wooden bridge that leads to the center of Ponte, the municipal seat of the municipality of Formazza.
